Made no difference to me like it made no difference to the person to whom it was suggested. I did a "repair" to AVG via Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Change (etc), and then restarted the computer (as suggested in one of these AVG threads). Once this starts, I have to restart the computer to download any website at all (for a while, then it gets worse the longer I use the browser, until I have to restart the PC again.) Once that happens, entering a URL in the address bar produce no response whatsoever.
Right-clicking on links to open them in new tabs will often lead to NOTHING at all downloading in those tabs. Only part of videos download, then I get one of those rotating arrows/circles for ever.
